This is what it looks like

No mock-ups. This is the actual panel, reading actual pages.

Reading

It reads in a side panel, not over your page

The page stays where it is. You keep scrolling, typing and working in the same tab while it reads — the current paragraph highlighted so your eyes can follow, or wander off entirely.

  • Web pages, PDFs, Google Docs, Word, Kindle, EPUB and email
  • Text or Original view — clean reading, or the page as published
  • Light and dark, your font size, your line spacing

Bookmarks

Stop mid-sentence. Come back a week later.

Hit one button and the spot is saved, with the sentence you were on and how far in you were. Bookmarks and quotes sync to your account, so the book you started on the laptop carries on where you left it.

  • Bookmark any spot while it plays — no menus
  • Quotes you keep, with the passage attached
  • Contents, shelf and progress for long books

Quotes

The line that made you stop, kept

Save a passage while it plays and it lands in Quotes with the words intact — not a page number, the sentence itself. “Go to text” drops you back exactly where it came from, months later.

  • The full passage, not a location
  • One tap back to where it lives in the book
  • Synced across your machines

Your own AI voice key

Studio voices at cost. We take nothing.

Paste an API key from OpenAI, ElevenLabs, Cartesia, MiniMax or Google Cloud and their voices appear in the picker. They bill you directly, at their prices. We never see the key or the traffic — and we add no markup, because the money never touches us.

  • Five providers, your choice, your account
  • No middleman margin on top
  • Optional — the free voices work out of the box

Light and dark

Set it once and stop thinking about it

Light, dark, or follow the system. Serif or sans. Line spacing from compact to relaxed. Reading settings you set for your eyes, not for a screenshot — then the panel gets out of the way and stays there.

  • Theme: Light · Dark · System
  • Font: System · Serif · Sans
  • Line spacing: Compact · Cozy · Relaxed

Questions people ask

Is Read It To Me free?

Yes. Reading web pages, PDFs, documents and email aloud is free, with no account and no word limit on the built-in voices. Premium AI voices are optional and can use your own voice-API key.

What can it read aloud?

Articles and any web page, PDFs, Google Docs, Word files, Kindle books, EPUB and email. Select text or open a page and press play.

How is it different from Speechify and NaturalReader?

The built-in voices are free with no word cap, you can pick one that runs on your device, there is no sign-up, and it can translate a page and read it aloud in your language. Speechify and NaturalReader gate most voices and features behind a paid plan.

Is it private?

You can pick a voice that runs on your device — those are marked in the voice list, and then the text never leaves your computer. The Google voices are spoken on Google's servers, the way browser speech normally works.
